Senior Research Associate, Chemistry
W2 Contract-to-Hire
Salary Range: $62,400 - $83,200 per year
Location: Berkeley, CA - Onsite Role
Job Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Research Associate who will support the nonclinical and process development of one or more novel drug products. Day-to-day responsibilities will include biochemical synthesis and characterization of novel protein/polymer conjugates, performing established assays to characterize these drugs, analysis of purity of these drugs and their components for different indications using high-performance liquid chromatography, and generating analytical results for product release testing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent experiments following defined laboratory technical procedures.
- Perform analytical method execution for product characterization and release testing (reverse phase and SEC HPLC, light scattering, spectrophotometry, biolayer interferometry/surface plasmon resonance).
- Learn and implement cell assays to assess conjugate activity.
- Reaction and formulation condition screening and optimization
- Synthesis and analytical method characterization for additional product pipelines
- Maintain accurate and well-organized laboratory records, worksheets, and notebooks.
- Comply with company Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, procedures and practices.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- MS with 0-2 years post-grad industry or academic experience or a BS with 2+ years of industry experience in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with a strong synthetic and analytical background
- Prior experience in chemical synthesis and analytical techniques in a research or production setting
- Able to conduct research with careful attention to detail
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Able to communicate effectively with scientists across multiple disciplines
- A dependable, self-starter capable of working independently within a small team
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Prior experience operating and developing assays using liquid chromatography is preferred.
