We are currently seeking an Associate Director of Risk Management who will be responsible for providing leadership and management for Enterprise Risk Management. Additionally, the Associate Director of Risk Management will be responsible for developing and institutionalizing a formal risk management program while incorporating the functions and administrative activities of Crisis Management/Emergency Management, working in tandem with the Chief of Public Safety with respect to structure, staffing, and programming in relation to a Emergency Management Program.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Risk Management: Develops and implements an annual Risk Management plan with a systematic and disciplined approach. Track RM progress through setting goals aligned with strategic plan, defining and monitoring metrics, and reporting to leadership. Works with leaders to identify, measure, treat, and monitor levels of risk. Ensures the success of compliance programs by holding stakeholders accountable for their compliance responsibilities.
Advocate and Advisor: Promotes RM and Compliance standards and best practices across all levels. Advocates for risk identification and advises on risk treatment strategies. Provides advisory services to identify and address operational, compliance and strategic risks. Develops and provides education and training for culture of risk awareness. Provide recommendations on strategic decisions.
Collaboration: Promotes cross-divisional communication and teamwork to address institutional level risks. Works with risk owners to identify emerging and untreated risks. Develops and advances processes to hold risk owners accountable for risk treatment and compliance. Provide coaching, development and direction for the Safety and Environmental Compliance Coordinator.
Institutional and Industry Knowledge: Develop and maintain familiarity with the activities to identify and evaluate all types of enterprise and compliance risks. Actively observes industry trends and best practices and communicates observations to leaders. Aware of emerging strategic, compliance, operational, financial, and legal risks to the higher education business model. Identifies and builds on and off campus networks of risk and compliance subject matter experts for sharing knowledge and peer comparison and evaluation.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, be an adept multi-tasker, and have the ability to apply critical thinking and strong decision-making.
- Comprehensive knowledge of risk management theories and practices and ability to use that knowledge in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations.
- Ability to problem solve and communicate effectively.
MINIMUM TRAINING &EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree, or higher (Bachelor's degree in risk management, business, or public administration preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years of risk management experience (Additional year of relevant risk management experience preferred)
- Proven project management experience
- Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) Designation preferred.
- Additional professional certifications/designations are welcome and will be considered with a combination of education and experience.
