Job Summary
The Automation Engineer will work closely with Tessy’s Automation Technicians and Cell Managers to address automation-related issues. Using sound reasoning and step-by-step troubleshooting, they will identify root causes and provide effective solutions. The role requires collaboration with internal and external customers to meet their expectations. The Automation Engineer will manage specific automation projects, ensuring all quality, safety, and productivity goals are achieved.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and Manufacture: Develop various subassemblies and systems, including end-of-arm tooling, automated conveyors, and fixtures.
- Collaboration with Production and Quality: Trial new automation systems and enhance the efficiency of existing systems.
- Performance Monitoring: Follow up on automation performance during daily production runs to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Sales Support: Work with the Sales department to provide quotes for new automation and support as needed.
- Equipment Specification: Collaborate with Mold Engineers and Cell Managers on the specification of mold robots, conveyor systems, and other equipment.
- Daily Production Goals: Work with all automation groups to meet daily production goals.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, plus one of the following:
- Four-year college degree with at least two years of experience in automation within a manufacturing environment.
- Two-year degree with at least eight years of experience in automation within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in CAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze information.
- Ability to read and interpret mold drawings.
- Attention to detail with high accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and apply logical or scientific thinking to various problems.
- Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to work with whole numbers, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Preferred Qualifications
College degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering/Technology.
