What You'll Do Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Attend safety meetings and participate in safety program.
- Monitors conveyors, ensuring all are operating normally (duties may include adjust the tracking on belts)
- Monitor water flow by clearing small jams in water lines using water/air compressor
- Performs preventative maintenance including lubricating and measuring wear.
- Operate small equipment of various sizes including forklifts, skid steers, etc. on an as needed basis.
- Provide technical support by (duties include, but are not limited to) monitoring various production equipment, making adjustments to feed/discharge rates of various production equipment, troubleshooting issues with production equipment.
- Conducts frequent and periodic inspections of plant to detect malfunctions, initiates corrective actions, and reporting it to the supervisor.
- Perform daily scheduled preventative and emergency maintenance on production equipment including greasing, lubricating, cleaning, and measuring.
- Keep grounds clear of debris while maintaining safety standards.
- Perform interior and exterior building maintenance, housekeeping chores and ground maintenance, including but not limited to sweeping, shoveling and general clean-up of any area and/or equipment throughout the yard.
- Effectively communicate over radio with teammates for traffic coordination, production, and safety procedures. Willing to cross-train in other positions and assist other employees as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What You'll Need - Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop outdoor environment while providing excellent customer service.
- Minimum of 1-year previous general labor in heavy manufacturing environments and warehouses preferably in the scrap metal or construction industries.
- Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
- Ability to adapt to frequent changes of priority and complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision.
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
- Ability to operate a forklift is a plus.
- Flexible to work overtime, off-hours, weekends, and holidays in an industrial/warehouse environment which includes being outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work in extreme heat and be exposed to weather.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
- Candidates within 50 miles of location preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
