Overview of the Staff Accountant role:
- Update and maintain accounting journal and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, and accounts payable)
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and revenue accounts for a complex non-profit organization
- Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies
- Assist with monthly/year-end closing and annual audit
Preferred Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP), and a general understanding of banking procedures and related activities
- Keen eye for detail and a dedication to accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of non-profit/restricted fund accounting a plus
