We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bridge Superintendent with experience in civil construction to join our team.
Reporting to the General Superintendent, the Bridge Superintendent is to manage and oversee our structural concrete crews. Qualified candidates will have an in depth understanding of the construction industry, contract documents, and plans. Qualified individuals will also have excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Duties: • Read, understand, interpret and enforce safety policies and practices. • Examines blueprints to determine dimensions of structure. • Lays out floor-plan/worksite as needed. • Determines sequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly, and erection of structure. • Assigns workers to such tasks as cutting material to size, building concrete forms, erecting wooden framework, and laying flooring. • Inspects work performed by subordinates to ensure quality. • Supervises workers engaged in building timber structures such as cofferdams, trestles, and supports for concrete forms.• Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.• Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.• Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product to increase efficiency of work crew.• Analyzes and resolves work problems, assists workers in solving work problems, and initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.• Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.• Maintain a general knowledge of equipment used on the job including basic understanding of equipment limits and designed purposes.
Qualifications:• A minimum of 5 years of Supervisor or Foreperson concrete bridge carpentry work experience – supervising bridge carpenters, laborers, and concrete finishers.
• A minimum of 5 years of work experience and understanding of concrete forms, form setting in bridge work, parking structures, and / or commercial concrete foundations.
• A minimum of 5 years of reading blueprints work experience in bridge work, parking structures, and / or commercial concrete footings and foundations.
• Education – four or more years related experience and / or training; or a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
