Main Objective: Responsible for a broad range of IP services in order to protect the organization's legal interests and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft and prosecute US patent applications.
- Manage patent and trademark portfolios.
- Management of outside counsel working on IP-related matters.
- Supporting/lead role in the development of patentability, validity, infringement, freedom-to-practice opinions and patent searching.
- Frequent interaction with the R&D and product development teams.
- Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.
Education and Experience:
- Registered US patent attorney, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, well grounded in patent drafting and prosecution, preferably on a world-wide basis.
- Specific experience in orthopedic or spine industries is desirable.
- The position will have responsibility for the IP of multiple Arthrex product groups.
- Must also be a graduate of an accredited law school and a member in good standing of a state bar.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
Advanced writing, comprehensive reading, communication and research skills required.
Electronic based legal research experience required.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
MS Office, PC, printer, copiers and other miscellaneous office equipment
