O’Neal Surveying & Mapping, Inc. (OSM) is a land surveying company based in Tallahassee, FL and we currently have an opening for Survey Crew Chief.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28/hr - $35/hr (plus bonus)

OSM provides survey services for a wide range of clients, primarily the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), various aviation authorities, and municipalities across Florida. OSM offers competitive pay, and benefits. These including 100% company paid Health, Dental and Vision Insurance. Coverage begins after a probationary period of 60 days of full-time employment. Benefits include 80 hours paid PTO and 7 paid holidays per year. Full-time employees receive bonuses at least once a year. OSM strives to work a 4-day work week, 10 hour workdays, whenever possible. This arrangement allows our employees a 3-day weekend most weeks. Weather or scheduling will occasionally require working 5 days or more, but this is the exception. Requirements:

• This position requires a minimum of 5 years as a Crew Chief.

• Perform design survey in support of engineering projects, including but not limited to horizontal and vertical controls, LiDAR, As-Builts, construction stakeout, boundary, topographic, Mean High Water, tree, hydrographic, wetland surveys and transportation/route surveys.

• Ability to use both Conventional and Global Positioning System (GPS) methods.

• Instruct your crew in proper methods of use and maintenance of survey equipment.

• Ability to operate equipment accurately/efficiently to acquire necessary data. Trimble Access is a PLUS.

• Provide complete and accurate field notes.

• FDOT experience is highly desired.

• Ability to work well with others.

Additionally:

• Ability to pass FAA background check/fingerprinting

• CST Certification a plus

• A High School diploma or GED is required for this position

• Valid Florida driver's license with approved/acceptable driving history required for this position

• Ability to travel (up to 90% of the time)

• Required to travel overnight 3 or more nights a week, when needed

• Overtime will be required on occasion, to meet schedules

• Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry equipment

• Ability to walk through all kinds of terrain and sometimes through standing water

• Ability to carry and lift equipment as needed

• Good leadership and communication skills

• Ability to follow directions from Supervisors and provide positive feedback
