Who is the Horticulture team and what do they do?

Our expanding horticulture team are not only our plant whisperers but are always creating new growing techniques to take full advantage of our hardware and software tech stack, growing the highest quality produce on the market. In this position, you will wear many hats, working on analytics of farm conditions and crop performance, research in improving techniques and crop quality and, getting your hands dirty with running the farm and harvesting crop.

This is a full time, on-site role that requires flexibility including weekends and holidays as needed. Will report to the CEO.

Who you are:

Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture or related field
Experience working in a commercial vertical farm or greenhouse under a head/lead grower
Experience in plant biology, cultivation techniques, IPM
Proficiency in Excel and other analytical tools such as Tableau. Creating models is a plus
Hungry to learn, explore and try new ideas to solve challenging problems
Self-starter, able to identify improvement areas around the farm and independently find solutions
Strong attention to detail
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and preform physical tasks

What you’ll do:

Work together with the lead grower focusing on daily critical system operations that promote crop yield and quality
Create new and improve on our cultivation techniques
Manage system health of the farm
Monitor crop health and performance
Analyze farm data and harvest performance to identify improvement areas
Create and implement IPM programs
Collaborate with engineers, computer scientists and the Ops team
Participate in seeding and harvesting activities
