Legal Assistant –7-10+ years’ experience – Hybrid in our Newport Beach office

Call & Jensen, a Newport Beach law firm established in 1981, seeks an experienced, knowledgeable Legal Assistant to support 2-3 litigation attorneys. The position requires at least one day per week in the office. Our Firm services some of the country’s largest and most recognizable corporations, as well as up-and-coming companies. Responsibilities:

· File and serve pleadings in California state court, federal court, appellate forums, and arbitration proceedings

· Proofread and edit pleadings, discovery, and correspondence, including the creation of tables of contents and authorities, and correction of any spelling, grammar and formatting errors

· Prepare shell pleadings and discovery documents using existing documents as samples

· Serve discovery requests, discovery responses, deposition notices, objections, and document productions

· Process and circulate documents received from various sources and request calendaring from our Docketing Specialists

· Reserve hearing dates for motions and schedule court reporters when needed

· Enter and/or revise attorney time to conform to firm guidelines, sending reminders to attorneys when necessary

· Schedule depositions with court reporters and videographers, and process transcripts when received

· Download and save documents received from our clients or opposing counsel

· Prepare check requests and vouchers, pay invoices, and request reimbursement for expenses incurred

· Follow firm procedure to open new matters and close matters that are no longer active

· Send invoices to clients and help facilitate client payments

· Coordinate client meetings, business development meetings and MCLEs

Experience:

Successful candidates must bring a minimum of seven years of legal assistant or legal secretary experience in a heavy litigation environment. This position requires in-depth knowledge of civil litigation procedures, independent judgment, comfortability with detail, and careful consideration of each document received. You will work alongside experienced legal assistants and will receive training from our team in the firm’s systems and procedures, but we expect you to be able to hit the ground running.

High-level skills in Word, Acrobat, and Outlook are expected. Experience with iManage and TABS is very helpful. If you work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, we want to talk to you!

Job Type: Full-time, 8 hours per day

Salary Range: $42-50 per hour ($87,360-$104,000 per year) based on experience

Hours: 8-hour workday, with occasional overtime during busy periods
