Job Summary:

The Psychiatrist is responsible for analyzing a patient’s mental health status and providing the necessary treatment. The Psychiatrist with Mood Treatment Center will be responsible for ordering tests, prescribing medications, and recommending therapy. The Psychiatrist will have regular meetings with patients to treat and diagnose mental health disorders. Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the Psychiatrist will help develop Evidence Based Best Practice Standards and other clinical duties and activities as assigned. The Psychiatrist will also work with patients in recovery from addiction.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results. Treat addiction disorders as necessary.

· Interview and examine medical patients, review past medical history, medication lists and requests and/or perform diagnostic tests and examinations, deemed necessary to obtain all possible information related to each case

· Make preliminary diagnoses, directs, or provides treatment, or arranges for specialized care or patient referral as required

· Provide medication management as appropriate and evaluate efficacy of medication treatment and adjust as needed and base decisions upon information obtained, professional medical knowledge and skills and prescribed policies and procedures

· Consult with health professionals from other medical disciplines whenever necessary to define a patient’s problem and seek assistance to safely provide the necessary interventions more clearly

· Coordinate and integrate information obtained into the ongoing health care and assures the provision of timely follow up care as required

· Prepare appropriate medical records for patients seen to assure the accumulation and organization of all pertinent clinical data needed to provide comprehensive care

· Review prescriptions accurately following Federal and U.S. Public Health Service laws and policies

· Make notes of observations to be incorporated into clinical records

· Provide crisis intervention when necessary

· Keep-up to date with professional job knowledge by reading publications, attending educational conferences, or maintaining professional networks

· Follow ethical or legal policies, procedures, and standards

· Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

· Board Certified Psychiatrist

· North Carolina license in good standing

· Ability to obtain professional malpractice insurance

· Must have full prescription authority and maintain current D.E.A. licensure

· Ability to work with little or no supervision
