Role Description

As an integral part of our organization, you will oversee the SEO department and partner with other internal teams, including Account Managers, Sales Executives, Web Development, Paid Digital Media, and Leadership. Your role will involve assessing the SEO department's success, overseeing the structure and progress of accounts, and ensuring smooth operations.

This role is perfect for someone with excellent knowledge of all SEO components (technical, content, and ongoing strategies) who is passionate about delivering a unified Organic Search Strategy for our clients. The ideal candidate will have SEO experience, can lead a team, and stay ahead of the (everchanging) curve.

Responsibilities

Lead the SEO team to maximize productivity, job satisfaction, and professional growth.
Identify and implement scalable, technical SEO practices that enable reliable organic growth for clients.
Manage a small book of important client accounts.
Oversee SEO projects to ensure the team is following protocols for success and meeting expectations.
Foster a culture of continual learning, ensuring the team stays at the forefront of organic search practices.
Provide updates and reporting on SEO performance to the client team, proactively flagging potential issues impacting search effectiveness.
Develop and distribute educational materials to various client and teams, including strategies and best practices.
Set weekly meeting agendas for the SEO team to ensure best practices are followed, new processes are implemented, and client issues are addressed.
Mentor and train team members, supporting their professional development and enhancing current learning and development plans.
Act as an SEO strategist for key accounts, directly handling strategy development, execution, and optimization.
Perform keyword research, competitive analysis, and technical SEO audits for assigned accounts. Create and implement on-page and off-page SEO strategies tailored to client needs.
Monitor and analyze SEO performance metrics to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
Share knowledge and insights with clients while keeping up-to-date with industry trends, tools, technologies, and opportunities.
Define innovative and data-driven SEO roadmaps for clients.
Lead client meetings both face-to-face and via conference calls when needed.

About You

5 years of tactical and strategic SEO experience, preferably in an agency setting.
2+ years of successful team management and leadership experience.
Broad expertise across all three areas of SEO: Technical, Content, and Ongoing Strategy.
Proven track record of SEO success with Case Studies or detailed history of evidence.
Presentation skills - comfortable and competent in presenting your ideas to groups, small and large.
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to present data and findings to tell a story.
Ability to manage multiple projects, teams, and clients, identifying top priorities and helping others do the same.
Self-starter, confident in your abilities, and not afraid to share opinions or new perspectives in pursuit of excellence.
Detail-oriented, solution-focused, and comfortable with ambiguity.
Team-player mentality, ready to get hands-on with SEO deliverables.
Analytical mindset with the ability to diagnose complex technical SEO issues.
Enjoy problem-solving, seizing new opportunities, and adapting new technologies and processes.
Comfortable leading and doing—ready to work at all levels to complete project deliverables and meet client needs.

Proficiency In the Following

SEO: conduct keyword research, competitive analysis & identification, creating and implementing on-page and off-page SEO strategies, backlinking strategies, and landing page optimization on a local or national scale.
Web: Technical SEO, CMS capability enhancement, page speed improvement, website migration, accessibility, UX, and personalization.
CMS: WordPress (Bonus: Shopify, HubSpot)
Content: Content management, YouTube and video optimization, schema markup.
Analytics: Google Analytics, Google Search Console, keyword ranking tools (Moz, Ahrefs, Agency Analytics, ScreamingFrog, SEMrush).
Google Suite: Google Ads, Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Docs.
AI tools for analysis and idea generation: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Jasper, etc.
Monitoring and analyzing SEO performance metrics to provide actionable insights and recommendations,
Project management tools.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary commensurate with experience: [$80,000-$90,000]
Additional performance-based bonus compensation possible
