Title- Head of Design, Merchandising and Development

Location: New York, NY- Hybrid

Salary $130,000-$160,000

Our client is a well-established young contemporary importer searching for a Head of Design and Product Development for immediate hire. Having young contemporary sportswear, and knitwear experience is a plus. Lead the design team with design concept, product assortments and product full lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

Manage the design and development process for young contemporary and knitwear

Develop time and action calendars for programs for each account
Work with the design team on fabric selection, and construction ensuring the quality integrity of design.
Manage placement strategy and follow-up by recommending product placement
Lead product development and design projecting future fabrications
Perform trend analysis research to ensure product lines remain competitive and innovative
Work with costing team to make sure it meets or exceeds the budget.
Daily communication with overseas suppliers on all production details, and costing
Manage product integrity and order specifications compliance. Approve lab dips, and the general flow of the process
Plan and execute a strategic sourcing plan to identify strategic partners.
Knowledge of fabrications- Cut Sewn Knits

Qualifications

10 plus years of experience in apparel design and development
Strong presentation skills
Experience with Kohl’s
Knowledge and understanding of fabrics and wash
Microsoft Office Programs
BA Degree
