This non-profit supporting environmental and sustainability initiatives is seeking to hire a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead this organization's development and fundraising efforts. The CDO will be responsible for sustaining existing donor support and securing the next level of expansion and growth, and leading new fundraising opportunities. This is a new and high-profile position being created at a moment of great momentum for the organization, and also at a time of growing threats to environmental protection.
This role will immediately serve as a thought and strategic partner to the CEO and Board of Directors and be a member of the senior management team. This role will manage a portfolio of donors, identify new donors, conduct donor research, develop and implement donor cultivation strategies, write proposals, solicit and close gifts, and steward relationships with key donors.
The CDO will also have a public-facing role, representing the organization in person at select conferences and meetings. Success in this position will be demonstrated by raising funds to support existing operations and advance strategic priorities.
- This role will be responsible for cultivating, stewarding, and managing external stakeholders (government, academia, industry, investors) to promote the organization’s mission and define collaboration opportunities
- Lead fundraising efforts across Federal, State and Local public sources, corporate and university partnerships, foundations, and private philanthropy
- You will be a part of a team-based effort charged with developing and executing on a long-term vision and strategy to achieve this organization's development goals for both public and private funding
Qualifications
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in fundraising, business development and project management, with a demonstrable track record of success
- Highly developed writing, editing and communications abilities
- Fluency with spreadsheets and financial management
- Well-developed emotional and inter-personal intelligence
- A collegial and supportive, calm and collaborative style of leadership a must
Compensation
Salary range: $150,000-$175,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance plans; 401k matching; and generous paid time off.
