JOB PROFILE AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Design Engineer II is responsible for Production Engineering of products sold. This position is the technical lead for jobs assigned to them and supports jobs assigned to others as required.
Technical lead activities include:
• Review & application of project specifications; summarize for application into design & fabrication drawings
• Serve as primary technical contact with clients; includes problem resolution and securing necessary customer document approvals
• Coordinate with other departments or functions to establish information needed to complete all technical activities (Manufacturing, Purchasing, Welding Engineer, Project Manager)
• Perform and/or check design calculations
• Create pre-BOM to order long lead material
• Coordinate with drafting personnel to complete fabrication drawings
• Review of fabrication drawings for the job; create or modify fabrication drawings when required
• Answer questions & provide support to Purchasing & Manufacturing
• File management and organization of electronic records associated with assigned jobs
Support activities for jobs not assigned include (as required according to project schedules):
• Perform design calculations
• Check fabrication drawings
• Create or modify fabrication drawings

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related technical field from an accredited university, or Associates degree + 5 years industry related experience, or 10 years directly related industry experience showing progression to competency of essential job functions
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with shell and tube heat exchangers or pressure vessels
• Strong knowledge of ASME VIII Div. 1 design & construction and industry standards
• Familiarity with weld process and their application to pressure vessel products
• Proficiency in the following tools: RCS or COMPRESS design software, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Products
