Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description - other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed.
- Studying and understanding project scope of work for the company and their subcontractors.
- Working with project tram to develop project schedules. Understanding milestones and critical paths before getting to the site.
- Involved in client correspondences, become familiar with customers' temperament and communication style.
- Develop manpower needs through the original estimate and working with the project team. Always looking for way to decrease labor requirements and improve project completion forecasting.
- Work with the Estimating department in the bidding process for new work.
- Assist in the development of the project site safety plan, as required.
- Perform site walk through from original estimate to engineering planning. Know the site!
- Develop strong working relationships with subcontractors, know their scope of work.
- Responsible for hiring union skilled trades for site work. Managing paperwork for hiring and layoffs.
- Leading and managing the on-site construction team, coordinating, and overseeing all work on site.
- Coordinating with cross discipline team members to make sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
- Establishing effective project communication plans and ensuring their execution.
- Attending production meetings.
- Meet with project team members to identify and resolve issues.
- Reviewing and becoming familiar with the schedule and budget and ensuring adherence to these. Preparing status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant information.
- Facilitating change requests to ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on schedule and budget.
- Ensuring quality standards are met.
- Placing orders for materials and being responsible for equipment and materials on site.
- Following the project timeline to ensure deadlines are met.
- Monitoring and ensuring on-site safety compliance, cleanliness, and orderliness.
- Maintaining records for site personnel such as daily field reports, field orders and RFIs.
- Liaising with inspection authorities regarding approvals.
- Identifying and developing new opportunities with clients.
- Obtaining customer acceptance of project deliverables.
- Managing customer satisfaction within project transition period.
- Conducting post project evaluation and identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements.
Requirements:
- 5+ years' experience as an On-Site Labor Superintendent.
- Ability to lead project teams of various sizes and see them through to completion.
- Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel.
- Proficient with taking and uploading digital photographs.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds and to operate heavy equipment.
- Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, specifications, and other documents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Budget management experience would be a plus.
- Experience with Skill Trade Council and the inner working of Union Halls and Business Agents.
- OSHA 30 certification
- Travel to job sites required.
