Purpose of the Job
The Commercial Lines Producer is responsible for prospecting, networking, and producing new commercial insurance business. The position will be responsible for growing the insurance portfolio through new business and retention. The Commercial Lines Producer will partner with Truliant Federal Credit Union departments to build productive referral partnerships.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Develops information and recommendations for prospective accounts, presents proposals, and adheres to agency policies and procedures for writing a new account.
- Presents quote proposals in a timely and professional manner ensuring proper coverage levels for members.
- Collects necessary deposits, arranges for binders, certificates, etc. Collects all premiums due on or before effective date of coverage.
- Establishes servicing procedures and timelines when necessary for designated accounts.
- Establishes payment arrangements for each new/renewal account, adhering to agency guidelines and policies and procedures regarding the payment of policy premium.
- Meets established new business and retention goals for the agency.
- Performs periodic service calls on designated accounts; monitors commercial policy renewal dates and proactively contacts members to secure policy renewals.
- Provides professional risk management advice to prospects and members.
- Maintains a concern for timeliness and attention to detail when interacting with members, as well as when working with agency and company personnel to minimize potential for error or omission claims.
- Identifies and solicits sales prospects from various sources provided by the agency, through proactive calls, mailings, internet marketing, phone contacts, and direct referrals from Truliant employees.
- Develops strong working partnerships with Truliant Business Services, Small Business Lending and MFC teams. Adheres to established referral SLA to ensure a positive member experience.
- Assists in resolving any problems in accounting or claims for accounts produced when necessary.
- Documents all material conversations with insureds and/or carriers regarding exposures and coverages.
- Establishes strong partnership with agency's carrier partners.
- Provides subject matter support and guidance to business units within the organization.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have strong commercial insurance underwriting knowledge
- Must be self-motivated to achieve established goals
- Must have excellent verbal and written presentation skills
- Must be detail oriented, well organized and have supreme time management skills
- Must have strong PC skills, with proficiency of MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote
- Must be able to work on multiple projects concurrently in fast paced and complex business environment
- Must be able to work in a general office environment
- Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required
- Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant's members, both internal and external
Physical Requirements
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required
- Must be able to sit at a desk for moderate periods of time and use a computer
- Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds
- Must be willing to travel as required to various Truliant locations
Education and Background
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years previous commercial insurance sales experience required
- NC Property & Casualty insurance license required
