The Software organization develops software applications, including integration and test on missiles, launchers, radars, naval systems, fire control and other complex systems. Our precision software and firmware integrate operating systems, device drivers, networking, and control software to bring together sensor, guidance, and flight control processing features to complete the mission. The Software org is made up of several Centers located across the country, responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle. This Senior Principal Software Engineer position will support a major missile program as the Software Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL). The IPTL will communicate and work closely with other IPTLs, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, their team, and the customer in support of a missile system development activity.
The IPTL is responsible for managing all cost, schedule, and execution for Software Engineering activities on the program. These activities include but are not limited to Directorate Estimate at Completion Reviews (EACs), Directorate level proposal reviews, staffing projections, and monthly metrics tracking. In addition, the SW IPTL will be the primary Software Engineering interface to the customer community, program management, and other stakeholders. The SW IPTL is responsible for leading the team that plans and executes all stages of software development and testing for software builds. This candidate must have the ability to manage time and resources in order to meet assigned deadlines. The candidate must be able to run a team working multiple configurations of hardware and manage multiple development branches.
This position is within the Effectors Center of the Software organization, and is an onsite role located in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do
- Apply expertise in software development for embedded multi-processor systems.
- Provide innovative and creative software solutions to complex technical problems.
- Follow and/or recommend changes to established processes and procedures.
- Create new procedures in new program areas.
- Review software products for soundness of technical judgment and adequacy.
- Produce documentation related to software artifacts across the lifecycle including design documents, test procedures, how-to guides, and internal presentations.
- Communicate and collaborate with team members and senior engineers to produce well understood and repeatable results.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively work and communicate with all levels of program, customers, and technical leads (IPTs, chief engineers, architects)
- Provide presentations to communicate status to program leadership and the customer
- Use Microsoft Office suite of resources to produce documentation to facilitate program leadership and customer discussions and decisions
- Perform Control Account Manager (CAM) duties in an EVMS environment
- Utilize agile software development methods, automation, and continuous integration.
- Work onsite at the Tucson airport location.
- Ability to obtain program access required.

Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 10 of years of experience.
- Experience across the Agile software development lifecycle in three or more of the following: C++ data structures and algorithms or C, C++, Python, and/or Object-Oriented Program Languages; systems software design; FQT test planning & execution; integration of real-time software/firmware/hardware; software test equipment maintenance; software requirements definition, experience on a program with security constraints.
- Experience including at least two of the following: Embedded Software, Embedded Software Security, Embedded Operating Systems (Linux, RTOS, VxWorks, etc), Software Architecture Design and Implementation
- Control Account Manager certification and experience as an acting CAM
- Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

- Experience adapting Board Support Packages.
- Experience with System Integrity software design and development.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
