Summary of Description:
Perform limited tasks and calculations necessary for engineering and design efforts supporting construction drawings and packages under the guidance of a supervising engineer.
Duties:
- Checking drawing packages and vendor submittals for completeness and accuracy.
- Convey adequate instructions to enable the design staff to perform their task with quality work.
- Perform calculations for related discipline under the direction and supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science Degree in a related discipline from an accredited university with 0-2 years of experience in refinery, petrochemical, chemical, offshore, pipeline or utility industries; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
License Requirements:
Valid Driver's License as per State law or requirement
Engineer Intern (E.I.) certification preferred
Specific Skills:
AutoCAD experience preferred.
Basic computer skills Microsoft Office and Outlook or similar software.
Knowledge of regulatory codes and requirements for the related discipline preferred.
Understanding of basic engineering principles and application.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver's license.
Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.

Summary:
The primary responsibility of the process engineer is to provide technical support as a technical expert, conducting process analysis, troubleshooting and design for the site's units in order to sustain and improve profitability, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance. This position requires daily interaction with operations, technical, safety, maintenance and reliability to drive overall improvements in unit performance. This role will lead the design and installation of long-term projects to overcome process constraints, resolve reliability issues and comply with environmental regulations. This will include defining scope, providing front-end-loading and incorporating process knowledge during engineering phases. This role will also advise on initiatives to maintain a competitive advantage. The Process/Production Engineer will monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize operating units to drive process and product improvements. During a typical day they will apply technical knowledge to detect causes of deviations in quality, capacity, yield, and energy consumption.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with operations to identify new opportunities to remove constraints to maximize on stream time and profitability while ensuring safe, environmentally complaint, reliable operations
- Analyzes complex operating issues and provides documented recommendations to improve performance
- Leads capital, expense and special project scope development, execution, support and training
- Leads Management of Change process (MOC/PSSR)
- Provides technical expertise in process safety including, PHAs, PSVs, safety system bypasses, and other PSM activities in the area
- Provides technical expertise during troubleshooting, turnarounds, startups, shutdowns, catalyst changes and other non-routine unit activities
- Reviews engineering calculations to quantify environmental impacts and releases
- Advocates and drives improvements in safety and environmental performance
- Participates on cross-functional improvement teams within the site
- Maintains strong safety and environmental compliance focus
- Monitors, troubleshoots and optimizes operating units
- Contributes in a team environment and establishes work relationships with onsite and offsite functional groups to achieve results
- Balances day-to-day operational priorities with long term strategic objectives to ensure alignment with company goals
- Supports gap closure and continuous improvement activities by providing technical expertise, engineering calculations, and justifications for new projects and participating in capital, expense and special project scope development, execution, support and training
- Develop new and enhance existing management systems and procedures to quantify and compare operating performance with established standards and assures compliance with existing standards
