Duties:
Teacher Calendar August 26 - June 20; Part-time Monday-Thursday/Friday
Follow school procedures and policies in administrative and educational matters that are set by Head of School and the School Board.
Develop and teach classroom music program for all band classes in grades 5 - 8, including Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced and Jazz Ensembles. Full-time teacher will also teach 3rd grade music.
Responsible for daily instruction of students, as well as observations, evaluations, testing, reporting, conferencing and record keeping for each student.
Responsible for daily curriculum planning, and implementation of plans following school adopted learning objectives.
Responsible for planning and leading concert performances, chapel music presentations, and special events.
Communicate curriculum and classroom activity information to parents regularly.
Accountable to meet learning objectives for the grade levels taught: to teach, test and re-teach with a variety of materials and resources suitable to the learning situation until reasonable mastery is achieved.
Keep daily plans in easy access in the event that a substitute is needed, and a required current substitute file of general information of schedule and seating arrangements.
Responsible to guide his/her educational assistant(s) and/or volunteer(s) in their role in the classroom when appropriate.
Plan and conduct parent/teacher conferences, and establish and maintain a positive working relationship with staff and parents.
Teach scheduled class days and participate in staff development, in-service, preparation and special programs according to annual school calendar.
Maintain an attractive environment conducive and related to the educational process, and the units and themes being taught, as well as daily orderly organization and maintenance of the classroom.
Responsible for student management in keeping with the school discipline policy.
Other Job Functions - Responsible for:
The safety and health of students in the classroom
Maintaining scheduled on-campus hours.
Attending all staff and in-service meetings
Participating in parent nights and concerts.
Set-up of classroom prior to the opening of school as well as year-end clean-up of classroom
Timely planning of supply needs and requesting needs from the purchasing manager
Conducting oneself in a professional and Christian manner, both in and out of the classroom
Fulfilling and maintaining all professional development training as required
Support student learning in the classroom as requested.
Qualifications:
Communication skills in written and spoken word
Teaching and classroom management skills
Interpersonal and organizational skills
Baccalaureate Degree in Education
ACSI Teaching Certificate (or willing to obtain ACSI Certification within one year)
Washington State Teaching Certificate preferred
Experience teaching music classes to young people in a school setting

Pay: $24,105.00 - $64,828.00 per year
