Position Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in a metabolic clinic specializes in obesity management and is responsible for providing high-quality patient care to individuals seeking to improve their metabolic health, obtain a healthy weight and manage chronic conditions. The APP will conduct comprehensive assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support patients in achieving their health goals; perform or order selected laboratory testing and/or in office testing; offer referrals to physicians, write prescriptions within the scope of expertise, and follow evidenced based protocols. The APP will also work with the collaborative medical director in the care and treatment of patients while maintaining a positive attitude and good working relationship with patients, other providers, coworkers, and broader community. The APP will see patients in the clinic and via telehealth in accordance with established care protocols and pathways. Opportunities for growth!
Requirements and Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with a specialization in obesity management preferred or 2 years of direct experience in specialty may be considered
Licensure/Certification:
• Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
• Current federal DEA license
• National certification as an NP (e.g., ANCC, AANP)
• Additional certification in obesity management or bariatrics is highly desirable.
Experience:
• Previous experience in weight management, endocrinology, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Strong understanding of medical nutrition therapy for obesity and related conditions.
• Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification as a Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management (CSOWM) or other relevant certification.
• Experience in motivational interviewing or other behavioral counseling techniques.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to perform physical examinations and procedures.
