JOB SUMMARY: We are currently seeking experienced and qualified candidates for senior level management work in law enforcement as Chief of Police; will plan, direct, and coordinate activities in the police department.
- This person will be responsible for the supervision of police personnel, departmental planning, staffing and directing of police activities, coordinating, preparing and administering budgets, developing programs designed to effectively correct operational deficiencies;
- investigating citizen complaints related to police personnel conduct and services;
- makes recommendations on performance appraisals, disciplinary actions and related employee personnel matters;
- represents the department at various meetings and conferences and speaks before community groups on the role of the Police Department.
CREDENTIALS: Bachelor s degree in criminal justice, police science, public administration or related field from an accredited college or university is desired OR a combination of senior level management experience with law enforcement certifications. Plus, experience in a department or law enforcement agency of comparable or larger size and complexity.
Must be APOSTC certified and be current on the required CEU s for employment and promotional opportunities. Master s degree is preferred, but not required. Due to the safety and security sensitive nature of this position must complete post offer testing as outlined in city policies. Must be willing to live in the city of Tuskegee or other location approved by the City Manager.
Salary: $75K
