We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Dual Language Elementary Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about bilingual education and committed to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for students. This role involves teaching students in both English and Spanish and supporting their academic and social development in a dual language program.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Curriculum Delivery:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities in [Language 1] and [Language 2] that facilitate active learning.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state and district standards and cater to diverse learning needs.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to support language acquisition and content understanding.
Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
- Assess and monitor student progress through formal and informal assessments.
- Provide regular feedback to students and parents regarding academic performance and behavioral development.
- Adjust instructional methods and materials based on student needs and assessment data.
Classroom Management:
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.
- Implement effective classroom management techniques to support a productive learning atmosphere.
- Address and resolve student conflicts and behavioral issues promptly and professionally.
Language Development:
- Foster bilingualism by promoting proficiency in both [Language 1] and [Language 2] through integrated language instruction.
- Support students in developing literacy skills in both languages.
- Incorporate culturally responsive teaching practices to reflect and respect students' diverse backgrounds.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, including other dual language teachers, specialists, and support staff, to enhance the educational experience.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in dual language education.
- Engage in regular team meetings and contribute to curriculum development and instructional planning.
Communication and Engagement:
- Maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress and school activities.
- Facilitate and participate in parent-teacher conferences and other school events to build strong school-home connections.
- Address parent and guardian inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Bilingual Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Illinois, with endorsements or qualifications for dual language instruction preferred.
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish, with strong oral and written communication skills in both languages.
- Experience teaching in a dual language program or a multicultural educational setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of effective bilingual education strategies and best practices.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to engage with students in various classroom settings, including sitting on the floor, moving around the classroom, and using instructional materials.
- Occasional lifting of materials and equipment.
