Upper Elementary and Middle School Math/Science Teacher (Los Angeles)
Title: Math/Science Teacher
Reports to: Head of School
Hours: 8:30pm-5:30pm

Position Overview:
This dynamic and innovative Elementary and Middle School Math Teacher is passionate about teaching mathematics through a project-based learning (PBL) approach. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore mathematical concepts in real-world contexts, encouraging creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. This teacher will design and implement engaging, hands-on projects that integrate math with other subjects, promoting deep understanding and practical application of mathematical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver a math curriculum that aligns with state standards and incorporates project-based learning methodologies.
- Create and facilitate interdisciplinary projects that connect mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios, fostering students' problem-solving abilities.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including technology, manipulatives, and collaborative group work, to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Assess student learning through both formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to guide student growth.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate math projects across different subjects, creating a cohesive and engaging learning experience.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, inquiry, and a growth mindset, where mistakes are viewed as opportunities for learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to share student progress, project outcomes, and ways to support learning at home.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in math education and project-based learning.
- Support the school's mission and values by contributing to a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Mathematics or a related subject area highly preferred.
- Experience teaching math at the elementary or middle school level, with a strong understanding of child development and pedagogy.
- Demonstrated experience with project-based learning or a similar hands-on, inquiry-based teaching approach.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into the classroom to enhance learning and engagement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills, with a focus on creating a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and a passion for innovative teaching methods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in curriculum development and the design of interdisciplinary projects.
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction and strategies to support diverse learners, including students with special needs.
- Experience working in a diverse school setting with a commitment to equity and inclusion.
