MC² is a professional consulting engineering firm specializing in the fields of Geotechnical Engineering, Geo-Environmental Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection and Pavement Design and Management with offices in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Our clients include DOT's, municipalities, state agencies and large multi-national engineering firms. We are retained by our clients to provide innovative solutions to complex subsurface issues to support the design of heavy civil infrastructure projects in the Transportation, Water/Wastewater, Tunneling, Dams and Aviation sectors, as well as provide cost-effective solutions for structures, commercial developments, and educational institutions. General Summary:
Oversight and management of a materials testing laboratory, including but not limited to, performing tests, analysis, and audits of work being completed by technicians for geotechnical and materials testing projects. Ensure standards of work output and strategy are met while maintaining a safe work environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules, guidelines, and company policies. Responsible to create and model a safe work environment and demonstrate safety practices.
- Responsible for calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supervising all in-house testing as required by ASTM, AASHTO, and Department of Transportation.
- Responsible for maintaining and procuring CMEC, USACE, and FDOT certification for ASTM and AASHTO procedures for in-house laboratory.
- Maintain and organize project samples and equipment.
- Update all standard operating procedures (SOP), technical operating procedures (TOP), and quality management systems (QMS).
- Perform technician audits and reviews.
- Performing and overseeing the following including but not limited to:
Education and Related Requirements:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree
3 - 5 years’ experience in the field of laboratory testing related to geotechnical and materials testing
Familiarity with laboratory data entry software such as QEST lab, gINT, Metafield, etc.
ACI, CTQP, FDOT Lab certifications
Preferred Licenses or Registrations:
Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), or similar professional license
Physical & Travel Requirements:
- Ability to work both in-office and/or in the lab full-time
- Keyboarding/data entry
- Ability to physically traverse a job site with varying degrees of incline/decline
- Ability to work overnight, as dictated by the client’s schedule
- Ability to work weekends, as dictated by the client’s schedule
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours at a time
- Ability to alternate between sitting and standing depending on duties required
- Sitting/being stationary most of the workday, when required
- Ability to bend and crouch
