PLEASE NOTE: this is a BUILDING STRUCTURES design position, NOT Software Engineer or IT position.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to BK's award-winning team for client service and team engagement.
- Depending on your experience, you will manage and design building or industrial structure projects both independently and as part of a team.
- Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, design analysis and construction cost estimates.
- Perform construction-related services including shop drawing reviews, response to requests for information, periodic construction site observation, and occasional specialized structural inspections.
- Collaborate with architects, designers, building contractors, facility managers and owners on design and construction of projects.
- Mentor and contribute to the development of younger engineers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred) - experience in construction is a plus!
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, TMS, NDS
- Experience with Revit, RAM and/or RISA is a plus!
- PE and/or SE registration.
- 5 or more years' experience. Seasoned professionals welcome to apply!
- Experience with multiple construction types, including steel, concrete, masonry, mass timber is a big plus!

We have staff who have relocated from all over. Lexington is a beautiful college town centrally located. Louisville and Cincinnati are 1.5 hours away; Indianapolis is 3 hours away. This is a full-time position.
While BK is very flexible, this is not a remote employee position. We greatly value face-to-face contact between our team and desire this to be predominantly in-office. We are primarily hiring for Lexington but other locations considered.
