DACP Construction is seeking an experienced concrete project manager/estimator with a proven track record in overseeing all stages of project life cycle, from bidding and winnings jobs, to providing project management during the job for successful bids (planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate would be responsible for executing these duties in a professional manner that represents the company well and results in the completion of projects on time, on budget, and at a quality that meets or exceeds the customer's expectations.
- Responsible to seek out, complete and submit on bid opportunities for the company. Develop and maintain good working relationships with current clients; responsible to grow relationships with potential future clients.
- Reviews plan and specifications, calculating quantities (take-offs), gathering quotes and submittals, constructing the bid and creating the bid submittal in a timely manner.
- Coordinates pre-construction meetings for projects awarded to ensure communication and coordination between customers, project managers, field and office support. Works with operations staff to coordinate appropriate construction methods and staffing needs.
- Respond to customer bid requests, provide estimates in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
- Timely communication with customers to include, but not limited to, answering questions, providing lead time, and revising estimates as needed.
- Follow up with customers on open estimates to gain approval of work, address questions and concerns.
- Obtains necessary permits and licensing.
- Manages costs by tracking labor and materials.
- Communicates and is responsible to work with appropriate staff to meet any and all DBE project requirements.
- Works to ensure all aspects of project are met safely, on/under budget and in the appropriate time frame allowed.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent work experience in concrete construction.
- Exceptional communication skills both oral and written when working with all levels of management, employees, external vendors, and other business associates. Must have good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. Must know standard conversions used in the construction industry.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, and internal safety complaints. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or regulatory agencies.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to define problems, collect and document data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex challenges.
- Proven work experience in project management and estimating. Minimum of 5 years’ experience estimating and project managing in commercial and roadwork concrete construction.
Preferred Skills:
- Bilingual: English and Spanish
- Knowledge of Bidding and Project Management software
Physical Considerations:
- Ability to work outside in changing weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs unassisted.
- Comfortable wearing required PPE: Hardhat, glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots.
- Ability to work on your feet all day if necessary.
