Position Summary: Oversee overall quality control and plant sanitation activities.
Product Quality/ Food Safety:
- Ensure the manufacture of products of the highest quality – outstanding in appearance, package presentation, performance and taste – by correctly handling and utilizing raw materials and good manufacturing, food safety and quality practices.
- Take all measures necessary to ensure food safety and quality.
- Recommend the implementation of standards for product quality.
- Assist in managing customer feedback for product improvements.
- Review and maintain all daily HACCP and SQF2000 level 2 documents and programs.
- Manage the microbiological testing.
- Prepare customer and laboratory samples.
USDA Compliance:
- Manage the HACCP Program and interface with USDA inspection personnel.
- Assist in the development and approval of product labeling.
Human Resources / Safety:
- Ensure a safe, clean and productive work environment, and assist in maintaining a positive employee relations climate throughout the organization.
- Oversee the training of personnel in the performance of job responsibilities, including the safe and proper handling and/or use of material, tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Maintain an adequately staffed, well qualified, and fully trained sanitation organization.
Sanitation:
- Perform and/or monitor all evaluative tests and inspections.
- Monitor sanitizer strength in the processing area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 3-5 years experience in the food manufacturing industry
- Supervisor experience preferred
- HACCP, SQF experience required
- Experience in ready to eat foods a plus
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills necessary
