APX is hiring 1st and 3rd Shift Production Supervisors for our client, a World-class manufacturing company in Buffalo, NY. Reporting to the Associate Director, Operations, this role is critical in directly managing the clean-room production staff and monitoring the manufacturing processes critical to the company's operation and to ensure production of received orders.
Specific duties will involve:
- Scheduling production and qualifications for their departments and communicate with Operations Manager to make necessary production changes
- Verify that paperwork for jobs is filled out accurately and completely for FDA regulated environment
- Design the room schedule based on demand, constraints, etc. and be able to react to schedule changes due to demand, availability of resources, etc.)
- Constantly communicate with team leads regarding job processes, changeover improvement plans, performance tracking
- Manages people with consistent and fair policy deployment (training, safety, absenteeism, operator discipline, etc.)
- Conduct quality audits and handle any quality issues.
- Accountable for business metrics (safety, quality, delivery, and cost)
- Developing Team Leaders, Assistant Team Leaders
- Hourly timekeeping approval
- Support lean initiatives and workshops on the plant floor
- Supervisors are responsible for making sure that all employees comply with safety rules and regulations. Supervisors have the authority to take corrective action as appropriate
- Promote a strong emphasis on safety from accident investigations, periodic safety inspections of their areas and assuring that employees are provided with and wear proper protective equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Technical Skills Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university and 3+ years of Production Leadership in a highly regulated environment ( FDA, FAA, ISO)
- 3+ years prior experience managing people, planning, scheduling and implementing lean preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- 3+ years prior experience working with controlled product paperwork (DHRs/Travelers/etc.) and implementing lean processes preferred
- Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with Operations Manager and various levels of management as needed.
- 3+ years of experience in a Lean Manufacturing (6 Sigma, Black Belt preferred)
- Experience with MRP systems and Microsoft Office Applications
- Ability to work any shift including 2nd and 3rd shifts.
- Will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
