Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer IV
Duration: 12 Months (Possible Extension)
Location: Redmond, WA
The main function of a mechanical engineer is to research, design, prototype, build, test and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes. The individual will be working in an interdisciplinary and collaborative team that works on hardware prototyping for wearable products. This role is fast-paced, low volume, with a high mix of hardware prototypes.
Role Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
• Conceptualize and design parts and assemblies for a product, equipment or system involving complex mechanical, electrical, and optical components
• Generate 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for parts and assemblies using CAD software (NX preferred)
• Assign tolerances for the parts and perform tolerance stack analysis
• Identify fabrication methodology for parts. Setup and document instructions to assemble devices
• Perform DFM/DFA assessments for the design while ensuring they meet functionality, reliability and UX/UI goals
• Create and maintain BOM
• Assemble devices in-house for low/medium quantities involving mechanical, electrical, and optical components
• Design, fabricate, and assemble fixtures and other tooling for experiments and prototype assembly/test
• Create and document test procedure and results
• Document and maintain prototype parts inventory
Must-Have Skills:
• 5+ years of experience working on CAD – Computer Aid and Design – NX experience is preferred, but any CAD work on other packages is sufficient
• Experience with plastic and metal part design (machining, sheet metal, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.), or similar
• Experience with 3D/2D CAD, statistical tolerance analysis techniques, and functional dimensioning
• Proficient with CAD software - NX (preferred), Creo, Solidworks or similar
• Knowledge in material properties, such as plastics, metal, adhesive, and/or glass
• Hands-on mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly experience. Optical and ESD component assembly and handling experience preferred
Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Previous experience working in consumer electronics products.
• Experience working on electro-mechanical or opto-mechanical products would be helpful for this role.
