Material Planner
This position coordinates material requirements for Transmission, Substation, and Distribution operations. You’ll monitor and improve the efficiency of the material supply process, directs material demand, and ensures timely delivery to field locations. The position operates independently with minimal supervision.
A day in the life:
- Review and revise material requests, ensuring compliance with supply chain strategies.
- Resolve material holds and bottlenecks to keep work schedules on track, recommending alternatives as needed.
- Optimize material flow from central distribution, laydown yards, and local service centers.
- Coordinate material demand and sources with project teams, logistics, and buyers.
- Negotiate with suppliers to expedite deliveries based on project schedules.
- Evaluate alternate suppliers and make award decisions if original sources can't meet deadlines.
- Forecast material demand and plan for seasonal usage.
- Coordinate material delivery with Logistics Services and perform goods receipts for purchase orders.
- Maintain professional, ethical relationships with suppliers, adhering to company standards of Conduct and Supply Chain Policies.
The wish list:
- Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, business, or related fields.
- 2+ years of experience in materials requirements planning, procurement, manufacturing, scheduling and/or related disciplines.
- Experience using ERP, procurement, or work management systems.
- Demonstrated analytical skills.
- Experience with using EXCEL, including the ability to create v-lookups and pivot tables.
