Packaging Engineer

Our client, a leading food manufacturing company, is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Packaging Engineer to join their team. This role is pivotal in driving the modernization of their Supply Chain through the development and implementation of advanced packaging solutions. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for innovation to help shape the future of the company’s packaging operations.
The Packaging Engineer will manage and lead the development and specification of packaging equipment for multiple small to medium-sized projects. This role provides technical support and expertise in packaging technology to plants and projects, with a company-wide impact.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Solutions: Drive technical solutions for Growth/Innovation and Supply Chain through the delivery of cost-effective, high-quality Front-End Loading (FELs) and Technical Briefs, ensuring effective team collaboration.
- Project Accountability: Deliver project accountabilities through effective risk management, scope alignment, and leveraging technical expertise from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Platform Leads. Ensure adherence to standard designs and specifications.
- Start to become an expert in one or more complete production systems and multiple unit operations. Collaborate as a SME, team leader, or Platform Leader
- Provides information on technical issues with plants and project teams and have influence on technical aspects of projects. Influence may be company wide
- Advance technologies and standard/specs for areas of expertise to drive efficiencies, reliability, and lower cost
- Leverage the people network, plant network, vendors, technologies, and experts around your to excel in your job, and bring best value solutions for our client
- Mentor and coach other engineers to advance the overall technical capability of the group
- Learn and apply people safety and food safety standards and principles
- Manage your career through self-initiated planning and training with the long term view of having technically broad and deep expertise
- Effectively use our client’s tools and project flow documents

Work Environment:
Typically requires 30-50% of travel to different plants and sites. Hours can sometimes go beyond the normal workday hours, shift work, and occassionally weekends
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in packaging engineering within the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong technical expertise in packaging equipment and technology.
- Excellent project management and risk management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
