A competitive integrated energy company seeks an experienced Credit Risk specialist to join supply and trading operations supporting oil, biofuels, natural gas, carbon emissions, and power. The position is responsible for assessing, monitoring, and managing the liquidity and counterparty credit risk associated with Supply and Trading activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Credit Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough credit assessments of counterparties, including energy producers, distributors, and trading companies, using both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Financial Analysis: Evaluate financial statements, credit ratings, and other financial data to determine the creditworthiness of counterparties.
- Risk Monitoring: Continuously monitor and manage the credit exposure of the trading portfolio, ensuring compliance with internal risk limits and regulatory requirements.
- Credit Limits Management: Establish and maintain credit limits for counterparties, regularly reviewing and adjusting them in response to changes in market conditions or counterparty credit quality.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed about global energy markets, including price movements, regulatory changes, and macroeconomic factors that could impact credit risk.
- Counterparty Engagement: Work closely with counterparties to negotiate credit terms, collateral arrangements, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Risk Reporting: Prepare regular reports on credit exposure, risk metrics, and key developments for senior management and stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with traders, legal, compliance, and finance teams to ensure that credit risk is effectively managed across all trading activities.
- Risk Mitigation Strategies: Develop and implement strategies to mitigate credit risk, including the use of credit derivatives, netting agreements, and collateral management.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies related to credit risk management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; a Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) is preferred.
- 3-10 years of experience in credit risk analysis supporting physical energy trading within an energy company or investment bank.
- Expertise in managing energy credit risk portfolios including counterparty, contract, collateral and exposure management, and credit scoring.
- Experience with TriplePoint CXL, SAP, CubeLogic.
- In-depth knowledge of global energy markets, including oil, natural gas, electricity, and renewables.
- Strong financial analysis skills, including experience with credit rating methodologies and financial statement analysis.
The position can be located in Houston or Calgary. Employees work 5 days a week in the office.
