We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead heavy civil construction projects, including highways, roads, and utilities, for a leading general contractor in the Houston area. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing TxDOT projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of a complex, single project to ensure compliance with Owner agreements and Company standards.
- Oversee construction, budgeting, and cash management, ensuring adherence to the project contract and meeting owner expectations.
- Develop and manage the project schedule, pay estimates, procedures, and resource allocation to achieve accurate and timely production.
- Coordinate with the construction management team to identify risks and negotiate change orders, optimizing project production.
- Promote and support project safety by ensuring full compliance with the safety program.
- Review and approve staffing and equipment needs to maintain efficient and effective project workflow.
- Provide input on equipment procurement methods and contracts to ensure optimal project outcomes.
- Strong ability to appropriately recover funds from claim and dispute resolution.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in managing multiple departments and direct reports to retain focus on one project completion goal and timeline.
- Strong, inherent ability and drive to negotiate terms of agreement for project work, budget and fund recovery in the project’s best interest.
- Strong internal branding and sales knowledge to constantly promote yourself and the Company brand.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience in construction management.
- TxDOT project experience is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain positive working relationships.
- Proven expertise in identifying, tracking, and managing project risks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-departmental teams and direct reports, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Strong capability in coaching, mentoring, and developing project personnel.
- Ability to effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities while ensuring deadlines are met.
- Strong, inherent ability and drive to negotiate terms of agreement for project work, budget and fund recovery in the project’s best interest.
- Effective delegation skills to drive efficient, accurate and profitable project completion.
- Proven knowledge and ability to analyze and interpret financial documentation to identify and mitigate project risk.
