Field Engineer – Visual Display Systems

You’ll work across sectors like military, aerospace, public safety, marine, and aviation, contributing to immersive simulation environments.
Position Overview: As a Field Engineer, you will be responsible for the configuration and fine-tuning of advanced simulation visual display systems. Key components include display screens, projection systems, image generators (IG), networking, and warp and blend software. Your background in mechanical assembly, electronics, and networking, along with experience in construction or fieldwork, will be key to your success.
Key Responsibilities:
Simulation System Assembly and Installation:
- Install and configure visual display components, including Display Screens, Projection Systems, and Image Generators (IG).
- Calibrate projectors to ensure precise FOV (Field of View), optimal resolution, and seamless integration with IG systems.
- Configure and integrate IG Frustum to achieve high-quality simulation outputs.
- Perform cabling installations (Cat5, Fiber, Copper) with proper dressing and labeling for system efficiency.
- Execute basic networking tasks, including Layer 2 switch setup, hardware addressing, and troubleshooting.
- Configure Windows systems, including imaging and software installation for simulation environments.
- Work with Warp and Blend software to seamlessly integrate projectors and optimize display quality.
- Conduct system acceptance testing, provide end-user training, and create technical documentation for setup and troubleshooting.
Customer Support and Maintenance:
- Manage customer support tickets, offering both remote and on-site technical assistance.
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting for visual display systems, including projectors and networking equipment.
- Deliver comprehensive training on system operation and calibration.
- Maintain long-term relationships with clients, offering proactive support and maintenance solutions.
Production and Quality Assurance:
- Inspect incoming parts and components (e.g., electronic parts and networking hardware) to meet quality standards.
- Assemble, test, pack, and ship products while adhering to strict quality control procedures.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies, such as warp and blend software, image generators, and scalable systems.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical assembly, visual display systems, or simulation environments.
- Expertise in technical assembly and field installation, including construction experience.
- Proficiency with advanced IG systems, warp and blend software, and networking.
- Familiarity with Windows configuration, software installation, and system troubleshooting.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. overhead and work in challenging environments (ladders, lifts, scaffolds).
- Networking experience (Layer 2 switch setup, IP addressing, and troubleshooting).
- Military or government experience or experience working in defense programs is highly desirable.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% (domestic and international).
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and passport required.
Preferred Candidate Traits:
- Deep experience with simulator visual display systems, including advanced troubleshooting and calibration.
- Knowledge of system engineering principles as they relate to simulation systems and visual displays.
- Military experience or experience working with U.S. government/defense programs is a major plus.
- Strong hands-on expertise in networking, electronics, and software configuration for advanced visual systems.
