Turning Point Search is seeking a Materials Manager with automotive plant manufacturing experience, including production processes and material flows in SAP. This is a direct hire opportunity with an established Global Tier 1 Automotive Stamping supplier.
Compensation is structured as base + bonus + full benefits plan.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the use of resources needed to ensure that the product requirements of external customers are met or exceeded, by providing Production department with schedules and materials required within optimal quality and cost constraints.
- Actively participate in the Plant Management team to maximize effective use of all resources.
- Determines and/or assists in schedules required to produce customer products within negotiated timelines.
- Plans requirements necessary for materials; capacities for machines and labor-hours to meet production schedule.
- Generates production schedules based on customer needs and on-hand inventories.
- Reconciles on-hand inventories with manufacturing/distribution inventories to reduce errors.
- Responsible to maintain acceptable inventory levels (turns).
- Provides leadership for local purchasing activities.
- Monitors and ensures all customer demands and ratings are met.
- Reviews routings & BOM’s of each component/product, part and inventory planning data.
- Manages all aspects of Customer Service and Shipping and Receiving.
- Maintains an accurate database of customers’ required documents.
- Ensures the accuracy of on-time deliveries, shipping quantities and tagging/labeling.
- Ensures accurate, timely electronic communication through ASN’s, DDL, SMART, and Bar Coding.
- Reviews premium freight charges on a monthly basis and takes corrective action if required.
- Participates and assists in the implementation of Continuous Improvement and IATF 16949.
- Produces daily, weekly, monthly reports re: inventory, supplier ratings, delivery ratings, etc.
- Attends Production and Engineering meetings on a regular basis.
- Provides training to new employees within department.
- Maintains positive employee relations and addresses issues in timely manner. Seeks advice/counsel from appropriate sources as required.
- Contributes to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Requirements
- Minimum five (5) years experience in Materials Management, with a solid understanding of automotive production processes and material flows.
- Experience in an automotive manufacturing plant environment, and familiarity with typical operations of machinery/equipment on the plant floor.
- Good understanding of production processes and material flows
- Sound knowledge of shipping and receiving practices, customs and traffic laws as well as expediting regulations, e.g., plant, truck, provincial, state, customs
- Effective knowledge of MRP & ERP material systems.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 and ISO14001 criteria.
- Experience administering and managing annual departmental budget
- Uses strong interpersonal skills to lead, coach, motivate, negotiate and build relationships.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher desired.
