Production Manager
Job Functions
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, federal and/or company policy and procedures.
- Create a culture of safety through 100% compliance to safety training.
- Oversees the maintaining of a safe and sanitary work environment and promotes Good
Manufacturing Practices.
- Provide coaching and direction to ensure success in meeting required outputs and schedules.
- Communicate production targets and priorities to manufacturing, and support teams.
- Assist Manufacturing Director with annual operating plan and capital requirements.
- Develop and implement appropriate cost saving ideas for production operations.
• Generate and implement ideas for continual process improvement.
• Develop and regularly communicate the plant KPIs including but not limited to safety compliance, quality results and production output.
• Maintain production and inventory records. Provide weekly/monthly reports as required.
- Manages training, performance evaluation, documentation, wage/salary and corrective counseling processes.
- Structures the workforce to effectively utilize associate skills, capabilities and develops leaders in the organization.
- Coordinates the scheduling of labor with Productivity in mind. Determines when overtime is necessary.
- Coordinates with Maintenance to evaluate equipment for overhaul, repair, and/or replacement.
- Interacts with Quality Control and Warehousing to assure that all materials meet specifications and are received timely to ensure a continuity of production.
- Anticipates future needs based on capacity and reliability of work centers.
- Accountable for the communication and interaction between departments.
- Identifies needs and directs the department's supervisors to meet/exceed acceptable levels of performance.
- Serves as an active member of the plant Safety Committee.
- Provide leadership and set goals / objectives for the plant based on corporate goals and customer needs.
- Conduct periodic plant production meetings with plant employees; coach staff members and communicate production related information from management as required.
- Maintaining a visible presence on the plant floor to monitor machine operations, quality of product and packaging, GMP and waste management.
- Fill in for Director of Manufacturing in their absence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Requirements
- Must maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
- Able to work in a production area with fast moving equipment, moderate to high noise levels
and intermediate temperature changes.
- Requires the ability to perform critical thinking processes.
- Foster open communication and maintains a positive, people-oriented atmosphere in the plant
- Strong communication skills; able to interact professionally and empathetically with staff and customers.
- Develop and drive an "Ownership" culture in the facility. Develop and drive enthusiasm for the workplace, and a pride in the organization
- Ability to shift priorities on a very short notice.
- Available 24 hours per day if emergencies arise.
- Able to work any shift schedule.
- Ability to work in and develop a high performance, high involvement, and results oriented work culture
• Provide a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with government safety and other regulations. Includes training, injury reporting and investigation, hazard correction, industrial hygiene and record keeping.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP systems
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
