Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Proposal Manager to join our team specializing in centrifugal air and gas compressor systems for the oil and gas, power, and air separation industries. As a Project Proposal Manager, you will be responsible for leading the proposal development process from inception to submission, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of proposals in line with customer requirements and industry standards, particularly API 617 and 672 design code.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Proposal Development: Lead the proposal development process, working closely with cross-functional teams including sales, engineering, operations, and finance to gather all necessary information for the proposal.
- Customer Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs, specifications, and technical requirements. Conduct thorough reviews of customer RFQs (Request for Quotations) and ensure compliance with API 617 and 672 design code.
- Technical Expertise: Possess a deep understanding of centrifugal air and compressor systems for the oil and gas, power, and air separation industries, particularly in relation to API 617 and 672 design code. Apply this knowledge to accurately estimate project costs, scope, and timelines.
- Proposal Writing: Prepare compelling, accurate, and concise proposals that address customer needs, demonstrate the value of our solutions, and highlight our competitive advantages. Ensure compliance with company branding and formatting guidelines.
- Cost Estimation and Pricing: Collaborate with the finance and engineering teams to develop accurate cost estimates and pricing strategies for proposals. Analyze project risks and opportunities and develop strategies to maximize profitability.
- Proposal Management: Coordinate the proposal process, establishing timelines, assigning responsibilities, and tracking progress. Ensure all proposal components are completed in a timely manner, including technical specifications, drawings, schedules, and pricing.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of proposals to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with customer requirements and API 617 and 672 design code. Identify areas for improvement and implement best practices for proposal development.
- Customer Relationship Management: Engage with customers during the proposal process, addressing their inquiries, clarifying technical details, and providing necessary support to facilitate successful proposal submissions.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, customer needs, and changes in API 617 and 672 design code. Identify opportunities for process improvements, standardization, and efficiency gains within the proposal development process.
Requirements / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in proposal management, preferably in the oil and gas, power, or air separation industries.
- Strong knowledge of centrifugal air and compressor systems, specifically API 617 and 672 design code.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts effectively.
- Proficient in project cost estimation and pricing strategies.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple proposals simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and build effective working relationships.
- Proficiency in using proposal management software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Travel up to 30%
- Office based role in Houston, Texas
