The role will be hybrid with 2 days based in our awesome
Charlotte office and 3 days remote.
As a Support Engineer, you’ll be responsible for:
- Providing exceptional customer service on service desk tickets supporting our customers around the world.
- Delivering world class, customer focused support and solutions.
- Connecting and managing AppsAnywhere solutions on customer servers.
- Contributing to our knowledge base and online community.
- Supporting clients throughout their journey to deliver an awesome student experience!
- Collaborating with AppsAnywhere colleagues across the UK, Europe, and North America.

To join our team, the following skills are required:
Essential
- 3+ years’ experience in a technical IT customer service/support role
- Experience of working within a fast paced and challenging Service Desk
- Working knowledge of Linux and Microsoft Windows server operating systems
- Superior people skills; a team-oriented, fast learner, and personable
- Experience supporting virtualized environments such as Citrix, VMWare etc
- Logical and systematic problem-solving skills
- An obsessive desire to deliver leading customer service
- Experience with IT service management tools (e.g., Zendesk, ServiceNow)
Technical
- Application installation, configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting
- Windows and Linux operating systems
- VPN, Remote Desktop, SSH and remote connection solutions
- Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and hypervisors - VMware workstation, Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop, AWS, Microsoft Hyper-v
- User management, Active directory, Microsoft Entra (Azure AD), SAML and other single sign on methods
- Networking and firewalls – TCP/IP LAN, WAN, switches, routers, DNS, DHCP
- Databases - Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL
- Web Servers – HTTP, Apache, Tomcat, OpenJDK
Desirable
- Certification in relevant technologies such as Linux, Windows Server, Azure, Virtual Desktop etc
- Bachelor's degree (or in progress) in IT, Computing, or a related subject
- AppsAnywhere Product, Administration, or Infrastructure
- Cloudpaging Server, Studio or Player
- Parallels RAS Server and Clients
- Load balancer configuration and SSL certificates
- Group Policy and Microsoft Intune
- Experience with Programming Languages e.g., Java, JavaScript, PHP, C#, C++, SQL
- IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, ITIL, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials)
