Director of Continuous Improvement – Defense Industry Manufacturing
Amotec is conducting a search for a talented Director of Continuous Improvement on behalf of a division of a multi-billion dollar manufacturing company that supplies to the defense industry. This position will be based near Springfield, MA and offers a unique opportunity to lead and drive Lean transformation efforts across the organization.
Position Overview:
The Director of Continuous Improvement will lead the Lean journey, embedding a culture of operational excellence throughout the facility. You will work across functions to implement Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies, improve process efficiency, and develop innovative approaches to achieving world-class manufacturing performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Lean manufacturing initiatives through continuous Kaizen activities and problem-solving sessions.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation and drive improvement efforts throughout the organization.
- Develop metrics and dashboards to help teams understand and act on key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Facilitate advanced improvement events including Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen workshops.
- Provide coaching and training on Lean methodologies, tools, and problem-solving techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, prioritize, and implement process improvements.
- Act as an internal change agent to institutionalize Lean methodologies and support the overall business strategy.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in Lean manufacturing and Continuous Improvement tools such as Six Sigma, Toyota Production System, and Process Improvement.
- Strong team-building and leadership skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
- Ability to analyze data, develop improvement initiatives, and implement practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to coach and mentor teams.
- Strong project management skills and experience leading improvement events.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Technology, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial) or 5+ years of relevant experience.
- 10+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is a plus.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
