Senior Compliance Manager
Opportunity: Our fast-growing RIA firm seeks a Compliance Manager for its Phoenix office. This position provides opportunities for the development of high levels of expertise and independent work. Compensation: $110,000 - $145,000 + Bonuses, etc.
Position Summary: Under the direction of the CCO, the Senior Compliance Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the firm’s compliance testing and monitoring program as well as overseeing the daily operations of the Compliance department. The individual in this position must maintain a professional demeanor and make sound, well thought-out decisions. This position requires little delegation of details or responsibilities. The work schedule of this position will be dictated by client needs, workflow and current deadlines. This hire will be expected to lead a compliance team in the assessment, development, implementation, and testing of compliance programs for our firm and for affiliated RIA clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties as assigned.
- Examines firm’s affiliated IAR field office policies, procedures and practices to ensure compliance with various laws and regulations.
- Stays abreast of changes to Federal and State securities laws and regulations affecting the management, operations and product offerings of the firm and its affiliates.
- Assists in the revision, preparation and dissemination of new and updated compliance standards, policies, and procedures.
- Prepares an annual risk assessment, compliance program, and schedule of reviews for firm access persons, affiliates and third-party service providers.
- Advising clients on compliance with the Securities Act, Securities Exchange Act, Advisers Act, 1940 Act and other applicable regulatory directives
- Advising on and reviewing firm marketing and advertising materials for compliance with the Advisers Act and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Assist affiliates in the performance of compliance functions, such as oversight of personal trading, email review, the monitoring of firm trading activities and maintaining restricted lists.
- Preparation and filing of required regulatory filings.
- Review, assess, devise, and conduct training of our clients' employees and management, according to client needs, particularly regarding the Advisers Act, including training on insider trading, custody, conflicts of interest and valuation policies.
- Design and monitor testing systems to insure the efficacy of controls and surveillance programs, including the consultation and implementation of relevant technology and technology infrastructure.
- Perform other compliance-related responsibilities and special projects as needed.
- Attends periodic training to receive information about various developments in securities laws and advisory services and participates in an exchange of ideas and problems.
- Assists in the management of compliance team and support staff.
- Provides written and oral instructions to subordinates.
- Maintains harmony among workers, resolves grievances and contributes to staff engagement.
Successful candidates will have many, if not all, of the attributes below:
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- 5-7 years of relevant compliance experience at a registered investment adviser or investment consulting firm, experience with investment advisory and registered investment companies preferred
- Strong working knowledge of the Advisers Act and the 1940 Act.
- Knowledge of SEC Exam practices, experience with SEC exams and mock exams preferred.
- Knowledge of CFTC / NFA as well as FINRA requirements is a plus.
