Summary: The CAD Drafter is responsible for preparing, drafting, and revising commercial and utility plan sets for photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Storage (BESS) system installations, including site survey sketches. This role involves creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, physical layouts, structural details, and equipment specifications. The candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, design, and estimating teams to ensure overall design coordination.
Responsibilities:
- Work under the guidance of the Senior Design Manager or other Design Engineers.
- Support Design and Engineering teams by creating site plans, single line drawings (DC and AC), and construction details.
- Produce detailed technical drawings and schematics using CAD software.
- Review drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate with project teams to meet drawing deadlines.
- Ensure designs comply with engineering standards and safety codes.
- Make revisions based on project stakeholder feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of drawings and revisions.
- Attend training sessions on new products, installation methods, and safety procedures.
- Stay updated on CAD software tools and techniques to improve efficiency.
- Prioritize tasks and projects, working independently or within a team.
Requirements:
- Ability to create and revise drawings from verbal or written instructions.
- Proficiency in drafting with the ability to work independently.
- Understanding of technical designs, QA/QC procedures, and engineering policies.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in creating technical drawings.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and relevant tools.
- Proactive attitude and ability to work independently or with a team.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
Education/Experience:
- Associate degree or certificate in CAD, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a CAD Drafter.
- Proficient in CAD theories and principles
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes is beneficial.
