About The Position
Copart seeks an in-office Payroll Supervisor to provide leadership and direction to the payroll team and one who will be responsible for ensuring the bi-weekly multi-state payroll is processed timely. The Payroll Supervisor will collaborate and work closely with the HR, Benefits and Finance teams to seamlessly integrate payroll processes with other business functions. Implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of payroll processes. First‐level leadership. Coordinates and leads daily team activities. The expectation is the Payroll Supervisor will be the subject matter expert in all areas of the payroll platform.
Job Duties:
- Oversee end-to-end processes, including data input, calculation, and distribution of employee payments.
- Manage payroll-related inquiries and issues from all team members.
- Continually leading and training payroll team to ensure optimum performance by implementing Key Performance Indicators.
- Prepare and supply payroll reports for management and/or auditors.
- Assist external auditors by providing information as requested.
- Works very closely with payroll service to ensure all payment, garnishment and tax transactions are accurate.
- Ensure accuracy, timelines, and compliance with federal, state, and local taxes and laws.
- Oversee system upgrades, implementations, and enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay informed about changes in payroll-related tax laws.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure payroll data accuracy and compliance.
- Assist with management decisions and activities.
- Working knowledge of team function within the organization.
- Completes misc. duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experiences:
- 3+ years of multi state payroll processing experience
- 2+ years of payroll Supervisory experience
- Canadian payroll experience a plus.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.
- Active membership with payroll certification organizations such as American Payroll Association preferred.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong focus on providing high quality service to internal and external customers.
- Ability to work with highly confidential data and maintain a confidential workspace.
- Must be able to work in a team environment or independently.
- Proficient in all areas of Microsoft Office (advanced skills with pivot tables, v-lookup etc.)
- Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
- Meticulous and deadline-driven attributes.
- Bilingual skill a plus
- Valid driver's license
