Safety and Training Manager

Position Overview: As an integral member of the Safety Team for Delta Metals, Inc., you will own all safety policies and initiatives, maintain compliance, and train all employees on workplace safety best practices. You will work directly with HR and Operations to ensure a safe working environment for everyone. You will also take charge of the professional training program to ensure all personnel are properly trained for their jobs, and that all training is tracked.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Monitor the removal of biological, physical, or chemical hazards from a workplace
· Provide safety and professional training for employees on policies, regulations and procedures
· Advise the company’s administrative team on safety issues and compliance in specific projects and operations
· Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations
· Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines; maintain and submit OSHA log
· Identify potential workplace hazards, and analyze incident reports, metrics and injury case studies to institute changes that lead to a safer environment
· Maintain all documentation regarding workplace incidents and collaborate with HR on all Worker’s Comp cases.
· Investigate every workplace accident; identify failures; recommend changes to policies, practices and training; and implement the needed changes.
· Work with insurance company and other safety experts to continuously improve the safety and training program.
· Travel occasionally to safety conferences and report lessons learned.
· Chair the company safety committee and report actionable recommendations derived from safety committee meetings.
· Attend local area manufacturing and construction safety meetings.
· Make regular inspections of Delta Metals’ facilities and jobsites, reporting any safety issues and following up with appropriate personnel to make needed corrections.
· Take charge of all environmental cleanup activities and ensure company is prepared for such possible events.
· Bilingual (Spanish) a plus for this role
Skills & Requirements:
• A bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety or a related field
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards; OSHA 40 certification preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to lead and teach a team
• Great attention to detail
• Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
• Excellent organizational skills
Job Location: 218 East Lathrop Avenue, Savannah, GA 31415
Working Environment: Work is typically performed in a non-climate-controlled shop, or at various job sites where weather and working conditions vary.
Salary: Starting at $70,000, depending on education and experience level
