Job Summary: The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting the accounting department in various financial tasks, including maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, reports, and general ledger entries.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accurate cash flow management.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits.
- Assist in the implementation of accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all financial transactions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage).
- Highly proficient working with Microsoft Excel with advanced functions.
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA preferred.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance.
- Experience with Big 4/8.
- Master’s degree in accounting strongly preferred but not required
