POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) designs and executes the overarching people strategy that underpins a commitment to associate well-being, including human resources initiatives, programs and activities for Marshall Medical Center. As a key member of the executive team and reporting to the CEO, the CHRO will be fully conversant with Marshall’s vision and mission and will help shape strategy by providing input on the broader Human Resource (HR) environment, ensuring that talent and culture will be key strategic advantages for the success of the health system and its affiliates. Accountable for all administrative and operating functions of system-wide human resources management. Answerable for innovative strategies, operations, policies and procedures related to talent strategy, talent management, workforce and leadership development and optimization, total rewards, employee/labor relations, human resource information systems (HRIS), performance management, workforce planning and diversity, equity and inclusion programs. Leads the design and implementation of human resource initiatives, ensuring that key Marshall strategies and operational objectives are resourced with the highest quality knowledge, talent and capability, continually and proactively addressing the wide range of current and future issues that impact HR management in healthcare. This position directly leads the division and indirectly oversees all employees within the division.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or Master’s Degree (MA/MS) in Human Resources or related field required.
- SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification preferred.
- *Must meet all DMV requirements listed below.
Knowledge:
- A minimum of ten years of Human Resource experience, with at least five years of executive HR experience.
- Must have knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) techniques and experience with team building.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends, laws and regulations, and other factors influencing Diversity, Equality and Inclusion programs.

*Note: Requires employees to drive at least once per pay period. Candidates must possess and supply proof of: a current CA Driver’s License, a clean DMV printout and Auto Insurance coverage with a minimum of $50,000 per person/$100,000 per occurrence (or a combined single limit of $100,000) and property damage coverage in an amount not less than $50,000 per occurrence.
