Relevant Experience
- The CM-SE shall be able to quickly understand and master the requirements of the local state and federal jurisdictions and the requirements of each considering the requirements of the project.
- Experience reviewing design and construction plans against existing site conditions.
- Experience in the resolution of unforeseen site and design conditions/problems and propose cost effective technical solutions.
- Experience conducting inspections and inventories of medical and administrative services structures to identify and note deficiencies, problems, or the general physical condition of such structures.
- Must have 6 years’ experience practicing structural engineering.
- Must have 6 years’ experience inspecting structural construction.
- The CM-SE must possess Communication, Language, and Software Skills with the ability to utilize a variety of software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products by applying knowledge of computer literacy.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Depth of knowledge in Structural Engineering including but not limited to: advanced structural analysis and design, assess and evaluate loads, recommend and review appropriate materials based on structural specifications.
- Experience with commercial hospital construction is preferred
- Experience with tower crane design, construction and operations is preferred.
- Ability to provide cost estimates and take-offs for contract modifications.
- Ability to determine compliance of workmanship, materials, equipment and installed work with contract requirements and industry standards.
- Working knowledge and understanding of building, safety, and environmental codes (see paragraph 4.1.1.2.a.).
- Working knowledge of environmental, civil, safety, architectural, mechanical and electrical fields.
- Knowledge of governmental contracting procedures, principles, guidelines and public law.
Communication, Language, and Software Skills
- Ability to utilize a variety of software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products by applying knowledge of computer literacy.
- Ability to exercise good interpersonal skills.
Education:
- The Construction Manager-Structural Engineer shall possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in structural engineering from an ABET accredited institution of higher learning.
- The individual shall have a minimum of six (6) years of experience in both design and construction.
- Additional consideration will be given for the Construction Manager-Structural Engineer who possesses a current professional engineering license registration and maintenance of same throughout tenure.
