Job Summary:
As the R&D Mechanical Designer is responsible for preparing all necessary mechanical drawings and performing a wide variety of activities requiring the application of more complex drafting principles and related technical knowledge. This position required an outstanding working knowledge of CAD technology, sheet metal design, and documentation.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
· Preparation of complex drawings relating to required specifications, as well as from customer engineering interpretation o the general order (CAD)
· Ability to learn and utilize UL 508A, UL 891, UL 1558, and any other required UL design standards
· Work with project management and engineering team concerning any questions, comments, or changes during the design or manufacturing process
· Creating and maintaining a SolidWorks component library
· Creating standard drawing sets of commonly used components that is applicable in different designs
· Develop panel layouts derived from bills of material to ensure correct equipment spacing and functionality as required
· Work with the purchasing and engineering departments to develop bills of material
· Work with the Quality department to ensure all drawings are up to required specification
· Work directly with the manufacturing team to implement any changes, clarify drawings, or anything else needed during the manufacturing process
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Experience working with PDM/PLM systems, SW-PDM is desirable
· Experience creating and maintaining BOMs in ERP systems
· Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
· Work with cross-functional teams of Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Project Managers
· Minimum one (1) year of experience preparing complex drawings relating to electronics enclosures and cabinets
Education and Experience:
· Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
· 3+ years of SolidWorks part, assembly, and sheet metal modules. SolidWorks CSWA or CSWP certification is desirable
· 5+ years of creating manufacturing drawings of sheet metal, machined, and assemblies with bill of materials
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting, standing, and performing repetitive tasks.
· Ability to lift 25 pounds occasionally and perform tasks requiring physical exertion.
