The Clinical Research Engineering team holds a unique position within product development by identifying clinical value and enabling the safe, effective, and reliable use of medical robotic platforms and their components. With your passion for patient care, your laboratory experience, and your proficiency with experimental methods, you will work alongside the clinical engineering group to test products in laboratory settings.
Responsibilities include working alongside a clinical research engineer to:
- Support setup and end-of-day clean-up and turn-over activities for a smooth lab execution.
- Manage laboratory equipment and study logistics.
- Assist in pre-clinical activities.
- Assist documentation and data analysis.
Primary Function of Position:
The Clinical Research Lab Technician executes laboratory experiments alongside Clinical Research Engineers to evaluate the safety and efficacy of products for our medical robotic platforms. The Technician is responsible for supporting laboratory experiments on bench-top tissue models, supporting execution and data collection during ex-vivo and in-vivo laboratory experiments, managing laboratory equipment and study logistics, and assisting in documentation and data analysis.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Clinical Laboratory
• Handles, dissects, and prepares various ex-vivo tissues.
• Assists in execution of product development laboratory assessments and pre-clinical validations.
• Provides set-up and end of lab clean up support including reprocessing of standard as well as non-standard equipment and devices.
• Assembles, troubleshoots, maintains, and coordinates equipment use across various teams.
• Fabricates dry bench top models for testing.
• Manages logistics for onsite and offsite studies, including replenishing lab supplies, tissue and/or equipment shipping, ordering, tracking, receiving and inventory management.
• Ensures labs are organized including maintenance of safety standards in lab.
• Collects and documents data during laboratory experiments.
• Assists in documentation and data analysis, such as inputting values into a database, converting raw data into tables and graphs, and reviewing and editing video.

• Communicates findings in a timely and organized manner to engineering team
Skill/Job Requirements:
To adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the individual must have:
• Associate’s degree or High School diploma with relevant experience required.
• Experience in the medical device industry and/or working with tissue models
• Exposure to surgical terminology, anatomy, and surgical techniques
• Mechanical aptitude and intuition for spatial relations
• Proficiency with laboratory equipment and troubleshooting
• Strong skills in experimental and scientific methods and data collection
• Excellent teamwork skills to insure timely project success
Terms and Start
- 12 month contract
- On-site in Sunnyvale, CA
- Pay rate: $31-33/HR
