HEAL Veterinary Hospital + Pet Rehabilitation is looking for a qualified, energetic, positively passionate VETERINARY PRACTICE MANAGER to help lead and inspire our team.
HEAL offers a combination of personalized pet care, integrative, and rehabilitative care to canine and feline patients through referral and client- directed avenues. We offer an integrative medical approach and have a strong focus on relational medicine and therapy.

PRACTICE MANAGER Job Description
The HEAL Veterinary Practice Manager is critical to the success of our hospital. They are responsible for ensuring a positive work culture built on shared values, direct communication, empowerment, and accountability; creating operational efficiencies; and problem-solving to improve client service, employee engagement, and to ensure actions and outcomes are in line with hospital standards.
The Practice Manager oversees the business activities of the hospital. These duties include hiring and training hospital staff; Collaborating with the bookkeeper and owner to prepare and manage budgets; Monitoring and analyzing key performance indicators; Researching and setting fees; Maintaining inventory and an inventory control system; Managing the hospital software; Implementing safety and security procedures; Maintaining HEAL’s business website and social media accounts; and Promoting collaborations/referral partnerships with area veterinary hospitals and specialists.
The Practice Manager sets a standard for our workplace and culture by:
- Communicating the practice’s values and mission to the team. Motivates staff and helps build, develop, and maintain morale, pride in work and accountability
- Upholding core values and standards.
- Holding regular staff meetings, including a component of mandatory training on standards of service and standards of care
- Providing a comprehensive clinical onboarding training schedule for all team members
- Providing ongoing and continuous performance feedback, coaching, instruction, and follow up with team members in support of work efficiency, effectiveness, and team member growth
- Building and maintaining a cooperative working environment among staff members
- Leading by example, such as, enthusiastically performing as necessary to help the hospital function as a unit.
- Promoting continuous quality improvement to ensure the practice’s success, employee growth, and leadership in the veterinary industry
- Collaborating with practice leaders to elevate operational excellence
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong leadership skills
- Experience as a Practice Manager preferred (human or veterinary)
- Ability to analyze various sources of data to establish priorities and initiate operational programs
- Sound personal judgment
- Excellent and accountable decision-making
- Capable of leading, managing, and coaching staff at all levels
- Demonstrated competence in all aspects of staff management, including hiring, retention, employee growth, and firing when necessary to maintenance of hospital standards and culture
- Demonstrated ability to show compassion toward clients and treat animals with respect
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent emotional IQ
- Demonstrated competence in budgeting and financial reporting, including reading and analyzing a P&L statement
- Demonstrated competence in marketing, social media, and brand development
- Solid math and Excel/spreadsheet skills.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
· CVPM or expressed desire to become certified
· Five years of related experience in the veterinary profession
· Outstanding emotional intelligence and perspective-taking
· Hands-on management style with proactive problem-solving skills
· Dedication to outstanding client service while demonstrating compassion towards clients and patients of the hospital
· Encouraging leadership style that empowers staff, builds morale, promotes cohesion, and elevates team members to their fullest potential
· Demonstrated capability to set priorities and work SMART (Specific, Measurable, Assignable, Realistic, and Time-Related).
· Knowledge of AAHA and Fear Free Standards
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Word/Excel
